Diagnosis
Sinonasal polyposis
Findings
CT – Coronal noncontrast image demonstrates complete opacification of the paranasal sinuses with soft tissue density extending into the nasal cavity. The osseous demineralization indicates chronic inflammation.
Discussion
Sinonasal polyposis is a manifestation of allergic sinusitis, a benign process which may be alarming to the radiologist because of its extent and bony distortion. CT commonly demonstrates enlargement of sinus ostia, rounded masses within the nasal cavity, thinning of bony trabeculae, and bony erosion at the skull base.
