Diagnosis
Inguinal hernia
Findings
XR – Mild diffuse gaseous distention of bowel with an air-filled loop in the right hemiscrotum.
Discussion
Inguinal hernias are common. If the processus vaginalis remains patent bowel can herniate through the inguinal ring into the scrotum in males and through the canal of Nuck into the labia in females. Most inguinal hernias are asymptomatic but can lead to ileus or incarceration.
