Simultaneous Radius and Navicular Fractures
Findings
CR – Anteriorly displaced Salter-Harris type II fracture of the distal radius and nondisplaced transverse fracture of the navicular waist.
Discussion
Simultaneous fractures of the distal radius and scaphoid are uncommon. In a prospective study, there were 2,330 distal radial fractures and 390 scaphoid fractures; 12 were combined. Most had high energy trauma. Distal radial fracture constitutes the principal injury and determines the outcome. If the scaphoid fracture is unstable or dislocated internal fixation of the scaphoid is recommended.
